Barcelona City Council is one of the four public administrations with political responsibility in the city of Barcelona, together with the General Administration of the State of Spain, the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Diputació de Barcelona. It has its historical origins in the Consell de Cent. The City Council is headquarted in the Casa de la Ciutat, in Plaça de Sant Jaume in Barcelona, opposite to the Palau de la Generalitat de Catalunya.
